Microsoft OneDrive

Back to basics with Microsoft OneDrive

Do you want to store all your documents in one central location? Perhaps you need access to your files on the move? Or maybe you want peace of mind your files are in a secure place? At Systemagic our holy grail when it comes to personal file management in Microsoft 356 is OneDrive! We’ve highlighted some of the FAQ’s that may help you decide if the application right for you.

What is it?

OneDrive is a secure cloud file storage solution which gives users one single place to store and share your all important files and documents. While SharePoint Online is the go-to Microsoft 365 solution for shared data, OneDrive is fantastic for those personal files that nobody else needs to collaborate on.

Why do I need it?

With OneDrive you can work on files from anywhere on any device. Even if you don’t have an internet connection, the software can sync files to your devices to work on them offline.   The app is fully integrated with programs like Word and Excel ensuring collaboration is slick.

How secure is it?

OneDrive allows users to simply recover files in which have been compromised or accidentally deleted. Files are always protected through regular backup processes.

What is the difference between OneDrive and SharePoint?

Although both are file management platforms the sole purpose of OneDrive is to store an individual user’s files in a central location allowing easy access for individual use. SharePoint focuses on teamwork and collaboration, where users store files in which are intended to be shared with others in order for them to access, view, edit and comment on. Think of OneDrive as the new My Documents and SharePoint as the new shared drive.

Did you know if you already have an existing Microsoft 365 subscription OneDrive is included as part of your package? If you think the application would work for your business and you’ve not yet implemented it, speak to one of our friendly team for more information.
